The alternative rock band Muse debuted their new album "The Resistance," With their chart topping single, "Uprising." If we look behind the lyrics of this song, we can see a theme of self control against a corrupt government. In a certain section of the song they sing, "They will not control us, we will be victorious!" This can be related to my theme because in both cases, groups or individuals are fighting against a stronger force that is trying to control them. If we look at a specific example, such as The Stonewall Riots, the gay and lesbian individuals protesting most likely had the mentality that muse expresses in their head of not being controlled. Throughout the years it has been proven that it is human nature to fight for what is right and what you believe in.h

The well known Bible story of David and Goliath depicts the small underdog, David, slaying the the towering Goliath. No one thought that David had a chance of accomplishing this tremendous feat, but he felt that he had the support of god and could persevere and defeat Goliath. This is ironic when one thinks of the theme present in my gallery, which shows the perseverance of man against the Church. However this piece of art still connects to theme of my blog, although the protagonists and antagonists are reversed.
